Morse - back to the beginning

Speaking of endeavour, as I was in relation to the Lexi Cinema below, I thought the new prequel to Morse - aired at the weekend on ITV1 - was excellent. Better in fact than many Morse episodes which often lose their narrative drive. Shaun Evans was credible as the idiosyncratic loner: you could imagine this young man growing into the Morse we all know - if not necessarily - love. Should you be wondering about the opening link, Morse's first name was Endeavour and indeed it's the title of this alleged one-off. Personally, I can't imagine why any parent would inflict a new-born with such a name, but then police procedurals tend to stretch credibility to the limit, and then some...
Shaun Evans as the young Morse dreaming of owning (his future) Mark2 Jaguar. I would love to see him take possession of it in a later episode. (On a personal note, my late father, Jack [RIP] used to own a gold 3.4 litre version of the car. I got a great thrill driving it. The Mk2 was a classy machine in its day - and still is.)
