Michael Bloomberg's anti-smoking action
Well done Michael Bloomberg for donating 220 million dollars to anti-smoking movements. OK, he's currently the Forbes 19th richest man in in the US and can easily afford the money, nonetheless this is a virtuous move on his part. The loss of life caused by the promoters of the vile habit of smoking is a major scandal of the past, and persists to the present day - where their worst excesses are perpetrated on the developing world. The tobacco companies' insipid corruption of youth by hooking them on their dangerous product; by making smoking seem 'cool' is nothing short of evil. How these legalised corporate and individual drug pedlars can be permitted to persist in taking the lives of millions of citizens of the globe year after year is a disgrace to governments and regulatory bodies and one that puts the smaller illegal drug trade into perspective. As one who has lost a close relative to lung cancer caused by smoking, I salute Mr Bloomberg both for his recent and less recent actions on this front.
