New Ground

Last year, I submitted a short story to a competiton. This was a first for me. It was highly commended. This year I will get something published. I am told, by a (well known) novelist friend that I should use my energy on writing a novel. Short stories are not a commercial proposition. So I will write a novel this year and some poetry and maybe a play. I must not lose focus on the literature degree and to pay for this I have to get a boring old nine-to-five job. Shite.
